HRS4R Implementation Master Class UCC Ireland

15 Apr 2019

In April 2019 we visited the University College Cork in Ireland (UCC), which is at this moment the first university in Ireland which has succeeded in the HR Excellence in Research Award renewal phase.

Our kind host was Mary Kate O’Regan, HR Research Manager at UCC, who also serves as an HR Award ambassador and evaluator of the submitted and implemented HRS4R plans at the European Commission. Mary prepared for us, as well as for participants from several other Czech universities,  an excellent program – an HRS4R Implementation Master Class. She also gave us an opportunity to attend the HR Researcher Conference 2019.

The HRS4R Implementation Master Class topics were as follows: Overview of the UCC and National Research Funding; Horizon 2020; Teagsac and other Ph.D. Training Schemes at the UCC; Research areas and research integrity at the UCC; Athena Swan program; Irish Public Sector Employment; Training and Development at the UCC. UCC’s Researcher Recruitment; and the IGNITE program.  There was also an HRS4R implementation workshop for research organizations whose Gap Analysis and Action Plan were accepted by the European Commission, have received the HR Excellence in Research Award and are currently implementing their “people in research” strategy.
