The evening about physics and life with Tomáš Tyc

In-Life, a student organization, invites you to an informal evening at the Moravian Library with Professor of Theoretical Physics Tomáš Tyc. You can look forward to a physics show as well as a discussion about physics and various aspects of a scientist’s life—career, family, and reflections on the meaning of life and faith in God. During the evening, you’ll be able to ask questions via Slido, so feel free to start thinking of them in advance, or just come and listen. The event is intended for university students.

Botanical seminar: Impacts of observation error on estimates of vegetation dynamics and biodiversity change

This presentation examines how observation error affects estimates of vegetation dynamics and biodiversity change using repeated survey data from grassland ecosystems across Central Europe. By integrating multi-site datasets with modeling approaches such as particle-based filtering, it quantifies observation uncertainty and improves estimates of key ecological processes, including species persistence and extinction dynamics. The results highlight the importance of accounting for observation error to obtain more reliable assessments of community change and ecosystem resilience.
