Theranostics (therapy and diagnostics) represent a new basis for a modern approach to treatment. Stroke is a significant burden on the modern society nowadays (not only after the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic). This project aims to study the pharmacokinetic properties of polyiodinated biodegradable nanoparticles (IoNPs) based on theranostics using a novel combination of in vivo and ex vivo imaging methods. On this basis, it further aims to develop (using a future image database developed by us) the detection of ischemic stroke age on tissue sections in a combination of machine learning methods. The results of this project will have a significant impact on society as a whole, ranging from the possibility of applying IoNPs in clinical practice, to the necessary choice of individual patient treatment to save their life, to the reduced economic burden associated with long-term treatment, rehabilitation and loss of productivity.
