In the age of ever-growing antimicrobial resistance, alternative/additional remedies and therapies are widely tested to support antimicrobials in the fight against pathogens. Although most antimicrobials have well-defined and described mechanisms of action, the effects of alternative treatments and remedies on microbes have not been studied in sufficient detail. The project aims at the effects of essential oils in subinhibitory concentrations and plasma on growing bacteria by Raman spectroscopy—a powerful tool that can mirror chemical bonds present in various samples, including bacterial cells or colonies.
