The project is about to design and build a roll-to-roll module capable of plasma treatment of flexible materials of approx. 20 cm in width; particularly flexible materials with photonic coatings fabricated by the commercial roll-to-roll line installed at Brno University of Technology, Czech Republic. The plasma module will be based on the diffuse coplanar surface barrier discharge (DCSBD) plasma unit, which generates surface plasma of ultra-high power density reaching 100–150 W/cm3 allowing rapid (< 1 min) low-temperature (70 °C) plasma sintering of state-of-the-art photonic coatings under ambient open-air conditions. The plasma module will work in tandem with the line providing inline plasma treatment immediately after slot die coating, all in a roll-to-roll fashion. The experimental extension of commercially available line with roll-to-roll plasma module will increase the competence of DCSBD plasma technologies developed at Masaryk University, Brno, Czech Republic.
