The proposed project is focused on the influence of inhaled metal nanoparticles (soluble and semi-soluble form of metal) presented in urban aerosol on experimental animals and on the accumulation and subsequent elimination of metal nanoparticles from selected organs of exposed animals. In proposed project, we will expose female mice to nanoparticles containing lead or cadmium compounds by inhalation in a whole body inhalation chamber representing physiological form of exposure similar to real air conditions.
The aim of this project is to deepen the basic knowledge gained from previous inhalation experiments of nanoparticles of semi-soluble PbO and CdO. In context, that there is no known safe exposure to lead, and inorganic soluble form of lead is supposed to be probably carcinogenic to humans, the question of lead nanoparticle effect on living organisms and its clearing mechanisms are key for the prevention of stress responses of exposed cells
