The project will focus on the characterization of lipopolysaccharides (LPS) isolated from cyanobacterial water blooms collected from the Czech water reservoirs. Biological activity of the isolated LPS fractions will be investigated, and specifically their effects in the in vitro models of human immune, intestinal and skin epithelial cells will be studied, in order to evaluate their pro-inflammatory effects and potential to induce various adverse health outcomes, such as gastroenteritis and intestinal inflammation, skin irritations and contact dermatitis.
