Biomolecular interactions play a crucial role in living systems where they are used not only for recognition but they are involved in information transfer and communication in living system in general. Carbohydrate-mediated recognition is important in many physiological processes including fertilization, pathogen-cell adhesion and recognition, signaling, inflammatory response and others. The main goal of the sugested co-operation is an identification and characterisation of B. cepacia lectins and structure-function analysis of their interactions with biologically active oligosaccharides.
