This project aims to investigate crystal structure and morphology evolution during growth and post-growth annealing, respectively, of thin films of mixtures of organic semiconducting molecules (OSC). Mixtures of OSCs have huge potential for novel applications in electronics and optoelectronics. The crystal structure and morphology of OSC mixtures determine the optical and electric properties of the thin films. Sophisticated experimental methods need to be applied to investigate the structure of the films at different stages of growth. We will exploit the complementary expertise of the groups involved to investigate the mixed systems. The team from Tübingen will prepare thin films of OSC and perform real-time X-ray scattering experiments during growth of binary mixtures of OSC. The team from CEITEC Brno will perform real-time annealing experiments on the thin films at their home facility and provide expertise in the X-ray scattering theory and X-ray data evaluation. The joint efforts of the groups will lead to deeper understanding of behaviour of OSC molecules under mixing conditions.
