Aim of the project is an establishment of a new research unit -Laboratory of Plant Molecular Physiology - at the Masaryk Univer- sity that provides the unique equipment and staff for the top molecular biology experiments. It will also serve as a centrallaboratory of advanced methods of molecular biology. Research activities of the Laboratory focus on studies of molecular basis of control of development, growth and adaptation processes in plants.Genes and proteins that play the important role inregulation processes mentioned above will be characterized. Modified genes will be introduced into model plants. Transgenic plants will serve to clarify regulation processes involved in optimalization of growth and development, to understand principlesof adaptation under stress conditions and for rational adaptation engeneering. Master and Ph.D. students will be involved in the research projects to give them an opportunity to use the most recent equipment and make their studies more efficient.
