ENVIRONMENTAL ASPECTS OF LIFESTYLE III.
This project is a continuation of long-term research activity at the Department of Environmental Studies (hereinafter DES) focused on the environmental aspects of changes in lifestyle. The project is based on the output of two previous specific research projects: Environmental Aspects of Lifestyle (2010) and Environmental Aspects of Lifestyle II (2011). It is also a continuation of grant research projects at the DES and last, but not least, it is intended to develop the specific research interests of each member of the research team. The project can be divided into four areas of research: a) the historical development of approaches to environmental protection and spatial planning; b) alternative approaches to economics; c) stereotypical perception of the lifestyles of minorities; d) forms of political influence on environmental protection. More specifically it deals with the following five topics: “green” approaches to spatial planning: Czechoslovakia before 1968; nature and landscape protection in the Czech Lands in the 1950s; lifestyle changes related to the economic concept of localization; stereotypes of Romani lifestyles as a mirror of environmental attitudes of the majority; forms of political influence on environmental protection. The project supports independent and creative work by select doctoral students of the DES. It also increases their ability to work in a team, and to discuss and make arguments in presenting their research topics. The project will be lead by Professor Hana Librová and Dr. Naďa Johanisová. Project outputs will include publications in academic journals, presentations at conferences, and an academic seminar where project findings will be presented to the wider academic community.
