Don't miss your chance to get funding to start your own business. Every enterprising student at Masaryk University has the opportunity to submit their idea and test their skills in front of a jury and competitors. Registration for this year's Start Your Business competition is open until January 16, 2026.

The competition is open to all students in bachelor's, master's, and doctoral programs in any field. All you need is a business idea, knowledge of the market and competition, and, above all, a serious attitude. "Start Your Business is an ideal opportunity to test your business plan and get feedback from experienced experts. The most successful students will receive a financial reward to start their business, but equally valuable is the feedback that helps improve and advance ideas," says Jana Joklová Kaňová, entrepreneurship coordinator at MU.

"A new feature is a special prize in the Social Entrepreneurship category. It is intended for teams that want to use entrepreneurship to actively address social, community, or environmental challenges with a sustainable impact," adds Joklová Kaňová.

Individuals and teams of up to four people can enter the competition, and up to twenty of the best ideas will be selected for the final. Before presenting their final projects, participants will undergo training in presentation and communication skills, and they will also be able to take advantage of entrepreneurial counseling and advice from partners and supporters of the event. The winners will be announced at a ceremony in June 2026.

You can register in Czech or English using the form on the website.

In the past, projects with topics such as sustainable compostable modeling clay, self-care applications for cancer patients, AI to help dentists, and macarons as art have made it to the Start Your Business finals. "The inventiveness of the competition entries is absolutely amazing every year. It's clear that we have lots of enterprising students with great ideas at Masaryk University," says Joklová Kaňová, who recommends reading all the successful entries on the website.
