Little known and rare mushrooms

As part of the exhibition, information panels will also be prepared on the unique finding of truffles in the botanical garden.

During his life, Václav Burle (70+) has been a scout, a trumpeter, a paddler, a journalist, a reporter and an editor-in-chief. He still works in the publication (e.g. Vesmír magazine) and television (e.g. a show about mushrooms on ČTs Polopatě) businesses, and is still an avid photographer, a lover of nature and a tireless fighter for its protection. Václav actively opposes the looting of forests by mushroom pickers and the taking of rare and endangered mushrooms.

There are a number of interesting pictures of mushrooms in Václav’s personal archive. Many of the fruiting bodies he has captured have not yet been seen by many mycologists.

Some time ago, Václav realised that it would be a shame to keep such images hidden from the eyes of nature lovers and the general public so, three years ago, he compiled two exhibitions about mushrooms, and has recently added a third collection of photographs. To date, the pictures have been seen by tourists at Karlštejn Castle and by flower lovers at the botanical garden in Prague, while the exhibition has been on display at the Czech Academy of Sciences (ASCR) in Prague, the Czech Agency for Nature and Landscape Protection (AOPK), the ASCR Biological Centre in České Budějovice, the Czech University of Life Sciences in Prague, the town of Suchdol and elsewhere. Václav has also exhibited his photographs alongside those of the famous Jan Saudek.
