My research focuses on nutritional epidemiology across the life course. I completed my Ph.D. in Environmental Health Sciences at Masaryk University in 2025. I investigated the impact of maternal diet during pregnancy on children’s cognitive development and the influence of dietary patterns on cognitive ageing. This work resulted in three first-author publications and additional co-authored papers.
During my maternity leave, I remained active in academia, contributing to my Ph.D. project, supervising students, and engaging in initiatives such as the ERA Chair program and SYRI. In 2023, I expanded my international perspective through research stays at University College London, where I established collaborations, I intend to strengthen further.
The NOURISH project will focus on integrating traditional epidemiological approaches with emerging methods in genetics and nutrigenomics. Its central aim is to understand how nutrition influences health from early development to ageing, with an emphasis on outcomes of high public health relevance such as cognitive decline and cancer. By linking dietary, lifestyle, and genetic data, the project will explore how individual differences shape responses to diet and contribute to disease prevention. This perspective will bring added value to Czech nutritional epidemiology, while also connecting it with international research efforts in the field of personalized nutrition.
The project will bild on existing Czech and European cohorts, enabling comparisons across populations and contributions to international consortia. This integrative approach will generate insights that are both mechanistic and directly applicable to public health practice. Collaborations with the National Institute of Public Health will support the translation of research findings into dietary guidelines and preventive strategies.
At the same time, NOURISH will strengthen interdisciplinary links within Masaryk University and RECETOX, complementing ongoing research on environmental and social determinants of health. In parallel, I will continue to contribute to the academic community through teaching and mentoring, ensuring that knowledge and skills are transferred to the next generation of researchers.
