In this project we will address the theoretical and experimental issues relevant for nitrogen fixation driven by transient non-equilibrium streamer-spark plasmas on liquid-gas interface. This fundamental research is relevant for environment-friendly technologies aiming on replacement of industrially produced fertilizers. We will investigate both numerically and experimentally processes occurring under highly non-equilibrium conditions on interfaces between two phases with highly different permittivity and conductivity: humid air and water. Reaction kinetic model will be developed for: the gas phase including formation of active nitrogen species during streamer-spark transition, model for species transfer between gas and liquid and liquid phase transport and chemistry. Detailed advanced emission and laser-based diagnostics of streamer-spark discharge will be performed with high spatio-temporal resolution. Pump-probe technique will be used for determining highly transient species. Impedance characteristics will be measured by means of response of the liquid medium on Dirac-function.
